Paper Title
Investigation of Novel Chrysin-Cyclodextrin Complexes Efficiency Against Liver Disease
Abstract
Chrysin (5,7-dihydroxyflavone) shows anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-allergic and hepatoprotective properties, therefore it could be an efficient agent against hepatic pathological states, such as liver fibrosis. However, chrysin is poorly soluble in water and has a low bioavailability, thus it needs to be complexed with carriers such as cyclodextrins in order to become bioavailable and to exert its effect. In this study, original chrysin-cyclodextrin complexes were synthesized and tested for biocompatibility against cells from Huh7 cell line. The purpose of the present study was to synthesize, characterize, and validate in vitro a new drug delivery system designed to investigate chrysin’s effect on liver disease. Chrysin-RAMEB and Chrysin-HPBCD complexes proved to increase chrysin solubility and to deliver this flavonoid properly to the cells, also displaying the highest biocompatibility.
