Similarity Analysis of Stems and Leaves Morphological Characters of Some Physic Nut (Jatropha Curcas Linn.) Genotypes
Abstract
Development of physic nut (Jatropha curcas Linn.) needs to be undertaken to support sustainable energy programs. The germplasm information is a very important first step. This study aims to obtain the information of morphological similarity analysis of the eight J. curcas genotypes. The materials used were SP-8, SP-16, SP-33, SP-38, SM-35, HS-49, IP-2A and IP-3P genotypes from Asembagus Situbondo experimental garden. The observed characters included stem and leaf morphology. The results showed that the eight genotypes of J. curcas have 82% similarity level. Therefore, it can be concluded that the genotype has a low genetic diversity. The cluster analysis showed that two groups of similarity. Group 1 consisting of HS-49, SP-8, SP-33, and SP-38 with 83.3% similarity, and group 2 consisted of IP-3P, SM-35, IP-2A and SP-16 with 83.7% similarity. The SP-33 and SP-38 genotypes had the highest similarity (90%).
