Paper Title
The Development of The Expectancy For Academic Success Scale (EASS)

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop and assess the psychometric properties of a sophisticated and sound scale to measure college students’ expectancy for academic success from the perspective of the expectancy-value theory (EVT). The Expectancy for Academic Success Scale was constructed by adopting and adjusting 16 items from the modified version of the Revised Generalized Expectancy for Success Scale (GESS-R) (Hale, Fiedler, & Cochran, 1992) and creating 4 new items by the researchers. The scale was administered to 584 college students. Principle component analysis of the scale revealed four factors: expectancy for completion of academic tasks, expectancy for successful academic relationships, expectancy for completion of education, and expectancy for failures. Index Terms: Expectancy for Academic Success; Motivation; College Students; Expectancy-Value Theory
