Quality of Life Among The Low-Income Elderly in Urban Communities, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand

Abstract
The cross-sectional survey research has the purpose of study was to investigate the quality of life of the low income elderly in the urban area of Chiang Rai Province. To classify by personal factors of the elderly in Chiang Rai city community with the sample size was 152 persons. Which the results from the selection of specific samples, tools for the quality of life of the elderly is adapted from the World Health Organization Quality of Life Index in Thai version. According to data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, the study indicated that the quality of life of the elderly was at a moderate level ( = 2.50, SD = 0.53). When considering each side, found that, the quality of life of the elderly at the moderate level was mental related to social relationship and environment factors respectively ( = 2.58, 2.47 and 2.57), the lower part was the Physical ( = 2.18). The results of the study from relevant agencies should focus on promoting physical health and focus on the mental development of social relationship and the environment of the elderly to improve the quality of life from low to medium level to higher levels.
