A Study on Smart Home Adoption in Malaysia: A Foresight Perspective

Abstract
The limitation of the information and previous studies on smart home in Malaysia provide motivation for conducting this research. This study was undertaken to identify the key drivers of the smart home adoption. Furthermore, this paper also try to identify the future trend of smart home among Malaysian society. A mixed method approach which consists of STEEPV and quantitative study had been used in this research. 365 out of 384 valid questionnaires had be collected from Generation Y. Impact uncertainty was analysed based on the research results derived from the qualitative and quantitative methods.. This study found that security and energy consumption had the highest impact and uncertainty towards smart home adoption in Malaysia. Keywords - Smart Home, Key Drivers, Future Trend, STPEEV.
