The Role Of Institutional Trust And Dispositional Trust In Malaysian E-Government System

Abstract
Trust in E-government is becoming an important topic and is attracting more and more research. However, the role of trust in e-government is not a well researched. In this study, we empirically evaluated the model for measuring e-government acceptance consisting institutional trust and dispositional trust by using structural equation modeling (SEM). Only one hypothesized relationships are significantly supported. Using a structured questionnaire derived from the literature, data was collected from 543 e-government users in Malaysia. Data was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results indicate that institutional trust (β = 0.40, p < 0.01) were positively related to intention to continue usage explaining a total of 16% variance. The findings of this study can be used to assess the success of e-government systems from the standpoint of Malaysian e-government users
