The Social Benefits of E-Learning for the Study of Foreign Languages in the Thai Education System
Abstract
Digital change in the era of globalization has led to the global citizenship, emphasizing further interdependence whether in the matter of politics, economics, society, news and information technology. The study of languages for communication within the wider world is very important for a country’s existence in the in this globalizedera. This research therefore attempts to present ideas for the further development of the Thai education system. Due to the influence of limitless digital communications world and the necessity of effective human resource development prior to industrial development and past mistakes, Thailand has realised the importance of creating a precedence in educational reform. The traditional teaching paradigm should change to keep pace with the increase in non-traditional students and a changing workforce. As a result, schools in Thailand’s education system at superior levels: high-schools, colleges and universities should continue to add more distance education courses and education focusing more on integrated e-learning. Institutions that do not have the resources to procure proprietary e-learning software should still create e-Learning programs dependent upon resources available and competence of administration and educators by utilising free educational tools.
