Assessment of Environmental Education Materials for Content Courses in the Teacher Education
Abstract
Assessments of Environmental Education materials developed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for Content Courses in the Teacher Education Curriculum were done to strengthen the awareness on Environmental Education concepts and skills integrated among the validated Session Plans. The environmental education materials were assessed in terms of: appropriateness, flexibility for integration, relevance to the academic program. The study employ documentary analysis to determine the entry points for the Environmental Education concepts and skills, developmental-evaluative methods for the development and validation the lessons, and evaluative method for the validation of the IEC materials on EE concepts and skills. Data revealed that the Environmental Education Concepts were well-integrated among the Content Courses in Teacher Education Curriculum. Entry points for the integration of EE concepts and skills were identified. The environmental education materials developed are highly appropriate for integration, highly relevant to the academic program and highly flexible for integration. Session plans, were validated by jurors, as content experts.
