Compatibility Crisis in The Pedagogy of Management Education: An Application of Situational Leadership Theory
The paper tries to identify the match/mismatch between a teacher and a student’s styles of pedagogy and learning respectively in an Indian management education context. Through a theoretical lens of Hersey and Blanchard’s situational leadership, the study identifies a mismatch between the leadership styles of a teacher and the students’ readiness to follow. We also identify the influence of the gender of the student and the teacher on the students’ readiness to follow given the leadership style. The study contributes to the adult learning theory in suggesting innovative andragogy and to the situational leadership theory by testing the theory in a classroom context from the perspective of Gender.
