An Assessment of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program of Barangay Paliparan III, Dasmariñas, Cavite

Abstract
The study analyzes the implementation of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (BDRRMP) of Barangay Paliparan 3 in the city of Dasmariñas, province of Cavite. Barangay Paliparan 3 is the town with the most number of families living in danger zones in the city with 360 families. This number is mainly composed of the infor-mal settlers who live near the riverbanks of the barangay. The study was done through qualitative interviews and partic-ipant observation with the main stakeholders, the residents of the barangay and barangay officials. The study will pre-sent and show the relationship between the barangay and the residents, the programs and systems being implemented, and the perceived effectiveness of said programs and efficacy of the officials and residents in the event of a disaster. The study recommends that the barangay extend its efforts in educating the residents regarding disaster preparedness, apply-ing participatory communication, and possibly relocating the informal settlers.
