Chinese Investment in Ghana

Abstract
This paper studies the effects of Chinese investment on Ghana’s economy from an FDI perspective. Using data on Chinese investments for this paper collected from Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) a government institution which is responsible for all foreign investments in Ghana a secondary source as well as other published papers and literature, I evaluate how FDI has become a major source of revenue and strategic economic development to most of the developing countries especially Ghana and the impact of China investment on Ghana economy over time since after independence.The government of Ghana has put in much effort to create a business-friendly environment to attract foreign investors to come and invest in the country of which Chinese investment, the inflow of FDI and its impacts on employment and other sectors has grown massively in Ghana. Evidence suggests that Under the investment policy in Ghana, the GIPC Act, 2013 (865) established the Ghana Promotion Centre (GIPC) has foster and promote investment in Ghana, created an improved, transparent and communicative environment which support the development of the Ghanaian economy through Investment.
