Factors Affecting the Life Satisfaction of Young Academicians
Abstract
The young academicians constitute the future of the higher education system. Even it’s possible to reach multiple number of resources about life satisfaction of employees, but the research intended for young academician’s life satisfaction is seen in limited numbers. The purpose of the current study is to examine the life satisfaction of young academicians and what the factors affecting this satisfaction are. One hundred and eighty-eight research assistants were administered a questionnaire consisting of Academician’s Job Satisfaction Scale and Satisfaction with Life Scale. After the reliability and validity conditions were met, explanatory factor analysis was carried out. Eight factors which explained %69 of variance are obtained by factor analysis. Then multiple regression analysis was conducted between life satisfaction and these factors. In conclusion, the results revealed that six of obtained factors statistically influenced young academicians’ life satisfaction.
