The Representation Of Two Javanese Masculinity Principles In Indonesian Campursari Songs “Stasiun Balapan”And “Sewu Kutho”
This research aims to describe two Javanese masculinity principles in Indonesian campursari songs as represented in the lyrics of StasiunBalapanand SewuKutho. Using semiotics as the method, this research describesthe signs that related to masculinity of Javanese man. In these songs, Javanese man is represented as kalem(calm)and nrimo(uncomplaining). This research also finds that song, as a text within the context, is not merely anentertainment. It is also a source of literature, a historical documentation and even a social documentation.
