Exploring The Use Of Network Management System By Cacti & Nagios Software In College Campus

Abstract
This paper will present the benefits of utilizing a Network Management System using Cacti and Nagios application in an open source environment. We started to gather all the information needed by using a logical and physical approach on all the network equipment�s.After we gather all the needed information we come-up to establish a system wherein we can monitor the whole infrastructure of CTI campus.Cacti and Nagios are two tools allowing a more proactive instead of reactive management style of systems to be used. Examples and screen shots are presented form the data center of the college for actual project. Recommendations for best practices and difficulties of the approach are presented at the end.
