Paper Title
Multiresidue Method for Monitoring Pesticide Contamination In Honey
Abstract
Honey is a product of high consumption due to its nutritional and medicinal properties. Therefore, the development of rapid and single-step method to determine insecticide residues in honey samples are essential to guarantee consumers health. One-step QuEChERS based method was developed to analyze 133 insecticides from different classes in honey samples using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The novelty of this research was the usage of chitosan, aluminum oxide, silica gel, modified silica gels C8 and C18 individually or in combination, as sorbents for clean-up, in order to obtain honey extracts that are completly free from sugars, proteins, pigments. The established modified QuEChERS method based on 1% formic acid in acetonitrile extraction followed by combination of chitosan/aluminum oxide/C8 clean-up sorbents was validated at three different spiking levels (0.005, 0.05 and 0.5 mg kg−1). The proposed method was used to determine insecticide residues in real samples of honey.
