Cybersecurity Impact and Trends on Digital Economic Growth in Developing Countries: Case of Zimbabwe

Abstract
The information and communications technology (ICT) industry has evolved greatly over the last half century. The technology is ubiquitous and increasingly integral to almost every facet of modern society. Over the past several years, experts and policy makers have expressed increasing concerns about protecting ICT systems from cyberattacks, which many experts expect to increase in frequency and severity over the next several years.The act of protecting ICT systems and their contents has come to be known as cybersecurity.Cybersecurity plays an important role in the sustainable digital economic growth in any country. Securing the information have become one of the biggest challenges in the present day. Cyberspace is an intrinsic part of the development of any country. A strong cyber capacity is crucial for any country to progress and develop in economic, political and social spheres. The investment in securing cyberspace is crucial, as it affects the digital economic growth in many developing countries. This paper focuses on impactof cybersecurity in developing countries and review latest cyber security techniques, ethics and the trends changing the face of cyber security.The researcher aims to assist developing countries better understand the national andinternational implications of growing cyber threats, to assess the requirements of existing national,regional and international instruments, and to assist countries in establishing a sound legal foundation.The researcher also attempts to highlight the disproportionate challenges that developing countries face in building capacity to tackle cybersecurity.
