Profitability Analysis For Jambu Mete (Anacardium Occidentale L.) Plantation as an Effort to Accelerate the Development of Jambu Mete Production in Wonogiri District Central Java Province Indonesia

Abstract
Wonogiri District has a potency of Cashew Nut plantation in its five sub-districts, Manyaran, Jatisrono, Jatiroto, Ngadirojo, and Nguntoronadi. However, the data on cultivated area shows a fluctiation and become an indication of instability of Cashew Nut plantation in Wonogiri District. Even though the productivity level per year shows a fluctuation, but the average level of production per year can reach 3.456,5 tons, this number still has potency to be improved. This condition makes Cashew Nut of Wonogiri District to own a competitive advantage. On one side, there is an enormous supply of Cashew Nut to Wonogiri district from various locations. This indicates that Cashew Nut plantation started to experience a decrease in production. The prediction said that this trend will result in the lost of superior commodity of Wonogiri District if the government does not handle it from plantation aspect soon enough. Because of that, then the analysis of Cashew Nut plantation feasibility becomes an interesting topic to be studied in order to accelerate the development and improvement of added value. This study employed survey approach method on Cashew Nut farmers. The location of survey is determined using purposive technique based on the centre of Cashew Nut producer sub-districts. Based on the data from Plantation and Forestry Agency (Dinas Perkebunan dan Kehutanan) of Wonogiri District, there are five sub-districts that become the centre of Cashew Nut producer: Manyaran, Jatisrono, Jatiroto, Ngadirojo, and Ngutoronadi. A village is then selected from each sub-district using purposive technique, and then ten farmers are selected from each village to become the respondents. The analysis techniques used in this study are NPV and B/C ratio. The result of economic review shows that Cashew Nut plantation is a feasible business. Cashew Nut plantation profitability can be accessed from NPV of Rp 25.806.383 and B/C ratio of 2,44 that fall in B/C > 1 criteria. The conclusion that can be draw from this study is Cashew Nut plantation still profitable and efficient to be pursued in the microeconomic level. However, in the macroeconomic level there is decrease in the Cashew Nut plantation productivity. This indicates that Cashew Nut plantation started to be abandoned by the farmers because they prefer to plant food crops. The role of the government, in this case The Plantation and Forestry Agency is very important to provide direction and counseling, so that the farmers are disposed to plant Cashew Nut as superior product of Wonogiri District which in turn will provide added value and accelerate Cashew Nut production.
