Optimal Placement of Protective Device on Power Distribution System Using Improving Ant Colony Optimization With Bees Algorithm

Abstract
This paper proposes improving ant colony optimization (ACO) with Bees algorithm (BA) to optimally place switches, fuses and autoreclosers in actual power distribution networks. Then, the optimal placement of switches fuses and autoreclosers is formulated as acombinatorial optimization problem. The proposed approach has been applied to minimize system averageinterruption frequency index (SAIFI), system interruption duration index (SAIDI) and the total cost of installing switches, fuses and autoreclosers to acquire the best location of them. Moreover, it is compared with original ACO. From the result, it can be concluded that the proposed approach has performance in searching best location of these devices more than the conventional ACO.
