Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Albanian Healthcare: Opportunities for Innovation and System Transformation
Abstract
This paper explores the role of sustainable entrepreneurship in Albanian healthcare, through innovation and responsible business models. A new wave of startups is beginning to emerge in areas such as digital health, telemedicine, wellness services, and preventive care. Although these ventures are still in their early phases, they demonstrate significant potential to improve service delivery, reduce disparities between urban and rural areas, and introduce patientcentered solutions that complement public healthcare provision. Although these ventures are still in their early phases, they demonstrate significant potential to improve service delivery, reduce disparities between urban and rural areas, and introduce patient-centered solutions that complement public healthcare provision. Early examples show that even modest innovation: whether in online consultation platforms, AI-driven health tools, or accessible therapy network: can generate meaningful improvements for patients and practitioners. However, their growth depends strongly on enabling policies, access to financing, and targeted support mechanisms. This paper argues that sustainable entrepreneurship, when supported by a conducive ecosystem, can act as a catalyst for transforming healthcare in Albania.
