INTERNAL SPACER FOR INHALERS

Abstract
This is a spacer meant for the inhalers. This is made up of PVC. It is non irritating, snugly fits into the oropharynx. It has two curves, in the form of mouth. The proximal end has a receptacle for the inhalers, available in market. The distal end opens beyond the uvula, just above the epiglottis. The canister, containing the aerosol is fitted into the proximal receptacle and the spacer is kept in the mouth. When the canister is pressed, entire aerosol enters into the airways, without inspiratory effort. The radioactive labelled IFSI has shown 80% of the drug delivery with one puff, in comparison to 40% delivery with the traditional method of inhalation. The clinical trials have shown it to be very useful. It is patented. The results will be presented in the conference.
