Metaphorical Modeling of the Image of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Russian, Armenian and English-language Media: A Comparative Aspect
Abstract
This article provides a comparative cognitive study of metaphorical models involved in modeling the image of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia in the political discourse of the media in Russian, Armenian and English. The relevance of this article lies in the need to implement the theoretical postulates of the theory of cognitive metaphor. The practical use of methodological principles of metaphor analysis in the study of metaphorical models in media discourse makes it possible to determine the quantitative distribution of categories of metaphorical units. The methodology of the conducted research is based on classification and comparative analysis. The purpose of this work is to define metaphorical models, consider the frame-slot structure of these units, contextual, discursive analysis. The research material is based on metaphors reflecting the activities of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The performed analysis reveals the dominance of social and anthropomorphic metaphors in modeling the image of a politician in media texts.
