Evaluating the Effectiveness of the High-Risk Area Reduction Program in Malaysia: A Quantitative Analysis
Abstract
In Malaysia, drug abuse is a significant issue. It puts society at risk in a number of ways, including security, public health, and user health. This study investigates the effectiveness of the High-Risk Areas Reduction Program related to drug abuse. The data is taken from National Anti-Drugs Agency. The indicators included number of programs has been implemented in all states in Malaysia, types of the programs, programs related to create awareness and knowledge about drug and substance abuse through different platform and media and urine test in schools, types of drug and statistics of drug-related arrest in 2023. This study has employed a quantitative research methodology to achieve the research objective. The findings indicate that there is a decline in positive drug cases alongside an increase in arrests. This denote that the program has contributed to enhanced enforcement efforts and has a potential reduction in drug use within high-risk communities. This study highlights the importance of evidence-based policymaking and recommends community engagement and hard reduction strategies to ensure sustainable drug prevention efforts.
