MEDIATING/MODERATING EFFECT OF JOB SATISFACTION AND ORGANIZATIONAL TRUST ON EXPATRIATE ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT
Abstract
Purpose – This study aims to investigate how organization climate (OC),working environment (WE), work-life balance (WLB) and perceived organizational support(POS) influence organizational commitment (OCM) throughexpatriate job satisfaction (JS). This research adds to the current literature by examining organizational trust(OT) and its potential interacting effect on the relationship between expatriates’ job satisfaction (JS) andorganizational commitment (OCM)during the pandemic.
Design/methodology/approach –Surveys were used to gather data from 305 expatriates occupying non-managerial positions in the United Arab Emirates. This was then analyzed using partial least square structural equation modelling.
Findings – The statistical results illustrate that OC, WE, WLB, POS had a direct positive effect on OCM during the pandemic.The results show that JS mediates the relationship between WLB and OCM. Furthermore, OT had asignificant positive moderating effect on the relationship between JS and OCM.
Originality/value – There are limited quantitative studies into organizational commitment resulting from the pandemic and itsantecedents. This research advances our knowledge in this field by analysing data from expatriate employees.
