An Experimental Study on a Biomass Waste Shredder Used by a School in Thailand

Abstract
This article proposes a use of shredder to reduce the volume of dry leaves and barks found on school campuses. It aims to replace burning that causes harmful air pollution. Experimental works demonstrate the soundness of the method. Also, one should consider to use a solar panel with a power converter to generate ac power supply to the shredder. All equipment can be installed on a cart for an easy transportability. Further experiments on energy consumption using a thyristor-based power converter to control the shredder confirm that significant energy savings can be achieved.
