Paper Title
DEVELOPMENT OF A FREE SIMULATION CASE FOR GAS-SEPARATION MEMBRANES
Abstract
Process simulation is needed for the design, optimization, and costing of a unit operation. Currently, UniSIM® and HYSYS® are the leading software for process simulation but they require a license to run. Cape-Open to Cape-Open (COCO) provides a freeware solution for process simulation. Unfortunately, a membrane unit cannot be modeled directly in COCO due to software limitation. In this work, a membrane unit was developed in the free computational program (Scilab) and then integrated into COCO. The model was compared with industrial data for carbon dioxide capture. Results show that the simulation case was reliable with 96%accuracy.
