Public Awareness of Flood Risk in Montenegro: Challenges and Opportunities for Improved Resilience

Abstract
Floods are among the most common natural hazards, posing significant risks to communities worldwide, including Montenegro. This study assesses public awareness of flood risks in Montenegro, aiming to identify preparedness levels and highlight areas for improvement. This paper underscores the importance of public awareness in reducing flood vulnerability and improving community resilience. The survey was conducted to assess public awareness and get insights into respondents' awareness of flood preparedness measures. Also, the study's objective was to identify preferred actions for improving resilience to floods. The results offer recommendations for politicians and highlight the need for new strategies, including public education. By addressing these challenges, Montenegro can strengthen its capacity to manage flood risks effectively and build a more resilient society.
