The Impact of Transformational Leadership and Good Governance on Organizational Commitment Among Customs Officers in The Second Regional Customs Office, Department of Customs, Ministry of Finance
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to; 1)To study transformational leadership, good governance,
and organizational commitment of customs offices under the Customs Department, Region 2, Ministry of Finance. 2) To study the differences in transformational leadership, good governance, and organizational commitment when classified by individual factors 3)To study the impact of transformational leadership and good governance on organizational commitment. The research population consisted of 323 customs officers under the Customs Department, Region 2, Ministry of Finance, comprising 27 executives and 296 customs officers. A sample of 179 individuals, including both executives and customs officers, was selected using proportional sampling and simple random sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires. The reliability of the questionnaire was measured using Cronbach's Alpha, with values of .983 for transformational leadership, .951 for good governance, and .916 for organizational commitment. Data analysisinvolved descriptive statistics such as frequency, mean, and standard deviation. Hypotheses were tested using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression. The research findings revealed that the mean scores for transformational leadership, good governance, and organizational commitment were 4.56, 4.64, and 4.65, respectively. Hypothesis testing indicated that individual factors such as age, educational level,position significantly influenced perceptions of transformational leadership, good governance, and organization commitment at the 0.05 level. Regarding the influence test, transformational leadership and good governance were able to predict 60.10% of organizational commitment (Adjusted R2 .601). Transformational leadership had a standardized coefficient (β) of 0.259, while good governance had a standardized coefficient (β) of 0.594.
