Variant Morphological and Band Gap Evolutions of Hydrothermally Synthesized β-Ga2O3 under Different pH Domains of Growth Solution and Their Anticancer Activity Evaluations
Abstract
Sub-micron structures of gallium oxy hydroxide (GaOOH) were synthesized under controlled growth conditions, specifically at acidic (pH=5) and basic (pH=9, 11) environments of the growth solution through hydrothermal synthesis route. Anticancer efficacy of the resultant GaOOH powders was evaluated by testing against A549 lung carcinoma cell lines and Vero cells (which serve as a model for normal bodily cells), across a spectrum of concentration profiles. Materialistic features of the synthesized GaOOH samples were comprehended through X-ray diffraction (XRD) to assess crystallinity information, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to realize morphological evolutions, and UV-Visible spectroscopy to unravel optical properties. These characterizations revealed that the synthesized materials under varied pH domains showed variant materialistic properties that significantly affected their potential biological activities.
