SOCIAL APPRAISAL GROUP DECISION SUPPORT MECHANISM FOR LOCATION-BASED SERVICE

Abstract
With the rise of the smartphone and social network platforms, emerging SoLoMo (social-local-mobile) based services bring new business opportunities for mobile commerce. Many scenarios in our daily lives involve others around us, be it friends or family members. Daily activities, such as watching a movie or eating at a restaurant are often done as a group. People make decisions based on their personal preference, but they also rely strongly on the opinions of others, especially close friends or influential people. In addition, the “context” in which the decision-making takes place is equally important in affecting user behavior. In an effort to combine location-based service features with decision support system concepts, we propose a group decision support mechanism for venue suggestion. Our system provides an efficient and convenient platform to groups for venue discovery, and increases commercial publicity for service providers.
