Paper Title
ANTIULCER ACTIVITY OF ERIOBOTRYA JAPONICA LEAVES AQUEOUS EXTRACT IN WISTAR RATS
Abstract
The aim of this work was to evaluate the antiulcer activity of the Eriobotrya japonica aqueous extract leaves against ethanol-induced ulcer in Wistar rats. The extract provided 48.50% protection against ulcers, while omeprazole offered 56.60%. The extract also reduced gastric pH levels. Biochemical tests showed increased antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, GSH) and decreased oxidative stress (TBARS) in the extract-treated group. Macroscopical analysis of stomach hemorrhagic lesions and histopathological sections provides supporting evidence for the anti-inflammatory mechanism by which EJ leaf aqueous extract exerts its gastroprotective action.
