TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AS CORRELATES OF EMPLOYEE RETENTION IN SELECTED

Abstract
This quantitative study explored the influence of transformational leadership and organizational culture (independent variables) on employee retention (dependent variable) among retailer companies in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The study aimed to address the research problem of identifying the extent to which these factors affect employee retention. A descriptive-correlational design was employed, involving 300 purposively selected employees as respondents. Data were collected using a structured survey instrument, and statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation, and Pearson's r were used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that transformational leadership and organizational culture were perceived at high levels among the participating companies. Employee retention was also reported to be high, reflecting the presence of effective retention practices. A significant positive correlation was found between organizational culture and employee retention, indicating that a strong organizational culture enhances employee retention. However, transformational leadership showed no significant correlation with employee retention. These results suggest that while organizational culture plays imperative role in retaining employees, transformational leadership may not be a primary driver of retention.
