Paper Title
MORPHOLOGICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC STUDY OF CRAMBIDIA CASTA PACKARD, 1869 ARCTIIDAE – LEPIDOPTERA - INSECT FROM BAGHDAD, IRAQ
Abstract
One species of bug found in Baghdad, Iraq, that is part of the family Arctiidae of the order Lepidoptera is Crambidiacasta Packard, 1869. Geographical distribution and physical traits, particularly those related to reproductive organs, distinguish this species from one another. It is an arthropod bug and a member of the family Arctiidae under the order Lepidoptera. Due to the fact that some of its larvae are hairy, the Arctiidae family is very important economically. The research was conducted in several locations across this biodiverse nation between May 2023 and March 2024. Using air netting and fluorescent lights at night, samples were taken from mulberry trees and clover plants. The samples were then destroyed by being placed in plastic bottles with 70% ethyl acetate. The species that were gathered were recognized, compared to identification keys, and the newly discovered species was given a taxonomic notation. By concentrating on certain phenotypic characteristics and taking pictures of the specimens with a mobile camera, it was possible to classify it morphologically.
