FINANCIAL PLANNING FOR CAREER ADVANCEMENT: A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR TEACHING FINANCIAL SKILLS FOR CAREER PROGRESSION AND ADVANCEMENT

Abstract
Financial stability and career advancement are unified goals that require intentional planning and skill-building. This paper aims at contributing to the financial literacy and career development, offering a novel approach to empowering individuals to achieve their career aspirations through financial planning. Though, many individuals are lacking financial literacy and planning skills required to achieve their career aspirations. Individuals can better navigate the intersection of work and finance through teaching financial skills in the context of career advancement, leading to improved career outcomes and long-term financial stability and planning. The study recommends the need to integrate financial planning education to career development programs so as to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed financial decisions that support their career goals. Moreover, the paper proposes a framework for teaching financial planning skills specifically tailored to career advancement. The framework emphasizes three key domains: (1) financial awareness and literacy, (2) career-aligned financial goal-setting, and (3) strategic financial planning and management.
