INTERVENTION THROUGH TASK SHARING FOR MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS IN PREGNANT WOMEN: A LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract
Maternal mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety and stress have shown a high prevalence globally, especially in low- and middle-income countries. These disorders not only affect maternal well-being but also pose a risk to fetal development. This literature review aims to review various interventions that have been applied in the management of mental health disorders of pregnant women, with a special focus on the task sharing approach. This literature review utilized 277 literatures accessed from online databases indexed on Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, SAGE, SINTA, and EBSCO. A total of 9 articles relevant to the topic were identified and analyzed. The results of the review showed that task sharing, which involves sharing tasks between health professionals and the community, has been shown to be effective in improving access to mental health services for pregnant women, especially in resource-limited settings. However, challenges such as social stigma and lack of resources remain key barriers to the implementation of this intervention. Nonetheless, task sharing is considered a promising solution in improving the mental health of pregnant women and supporting the achievement of global health targets.
