THE EVOLUTION OF GROWTH MONITORING PRACTICES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD: A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract
Objectives: This literature review examines the historical context of growth monitoring practices, factors and impacts of the evolution of early childhood growth monitoring practices. The review uses data from various studies to understand the evolution of early childhood growth monitoring practices. Methods: The authors conducted a comprehensive search across multiple databases, including PubMed, MEDLINE, Science Direct, and ProQuest, for articles published between 2019-2024. Results: A total of three studies met the inclusion criteria. early childhood growth monitoring practices have undergone significant transformation, influenced by factors such as education, technology, and public awareness. Despite advances in measurement accuracy through the use of digital technology and educational programs, challenges in access and community understanding still need to be addressed to improve the effectiveness of monitoring programs. Conclusions: Early childhood growth monitoring practices have undergone significant transformation due to education, technology, and public awareness, but challenges in access and understanding still need to be addressed to improve the effectiveness of such programs. Therefore, it is recommended that the government and relevant agencies focus on developing comprehensive and adaptive educational programs, as well as strengthening the capacity of health workers to support optimal child health and development.
