Paper Title
THE COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT MODEL WITH ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FACTORS AND PREVENTIVE PRACTICES RELATED TO MALARIA INCIDENCE IN NABIRE DISTRICT, NABIRE REGENCY, CENTRAL PAPUA PROVINCE
Abstract
Malaria is caused by the Plasmodium parasite and transmitted through the bites of female Anopheles mosquitoes, which leads to serious health problems due to its high transmission rate. Despite various control efforts, the trend of increasing malaria cases continues. This is largely attributed to the lack of community empowerment that is tailored to local characteristics.
To develop a community empowerment model that considers environmental risk factors and preventive practices related to malaria incidence in Nabire District, Nabire Regency, Central Papua Province.
The literature sources in this study were primarily obtained from online journal databases, such as PubMed, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. Other sources included textbooks from libraries, Ministry of Health reports, theses, and dissertations. Identified articles were imported into Mendeley, and duplicates were removed. Title and abstract screening was then performed on the articles. In the final phase, the full texts of the remaining articles were read, and those that met the inclusion criteria were retained.
Based on the literature review using the online databases PubMed, ProQuest, and Google Scholar, thirty articles were identified for in-depth analysis. The study results indicate that the developed community empowerment model, which integrates positive deviance and participatory approaches, can enhance awareness and malaria prevention practices among the local community.
The community empowerment model is expected to be effective in reducing malaria incidence in the study area. These findings have important implications for the development of more adaptive and community-based malaria control policies and programs, particularly in high-endemic areas.
