Paper Title
HEALTH LITERACY FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, ANTENATAL CARE SERVICES IN COASTAL COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT
Abstract
Abstract - In 2017, around 295,000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth, although the maternal mortality rate (MMR) has fallen by 38% since 2000[1].One of the causes of the maternal mortality rate is that the level of public health literacy in Indonesia tends to be low. Where, adequate health literacy is very necessary for pregnant women to improve and maintain their health and the health of the baby they are carrying[2].Currently, Indonesia has not followed the antenatal guidelines recommended by WHO to ensure good care for mothers and reduce maternal mortality and highrisk pregnancies and the model for antenatal visits must be updated. For this reason, an in-depth study was carried out regarding health literacy related to services for pregnant women or ANC in urban and rural communities[3][4].Some references do not examine coastal and island communities which have different characteristics and health problems from urban and rural communities.Aim:to find a literacy model for pregnant women in the use of antenatal care services in coastal communities.Method:Search five databases: Pubmed, Elsevier, Google Scholar, Open Access and accredited national journal Sinta. The eligibility criteria for the study were: 1) the population of women in the prenatal period studied, 2) the text is in English, and 3) a clear statement regarding the assessment of health literacy by synthesizing the results using thematic synthesis in three stages 1) text coding, 2) theme development descriptive, and 3) creating analytical themes. Result:From 1,336 studies screened, we included forty-four studies in the systematic review. Most studies were conducted in the United States, some in Indonesia and Europe, and a few in Africa. We identified twenty different health literacy measurement tools used in research. Four themes were synthesized: 1) socio-economic and its determinants, 2) functional health literacy, 3) interactive health literacy, and 4) critical health literacy. Conclusion: The relationship between health literacy and antenatal care services is very important to ensure that pregnant women receive effective care and can be used to make good decisions in the care of pregnant women.
