THE INFLUENCE OF HUSBAND'S SUPPORT THROUGH INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION ON THE PREVENTION OF POSTPARTUM BLUES

Abstract
Postpartum blues is a mild mental disorder syndrome that is often ignored and can develop into postpartum depression and psychosis. Husband's support through interpersonal communication is very important in preventing postpartum blues. This research conducted a literature review of 14 articles that met the inclusion criteria and found that husband's support in the context of interpersonal communication for postpartum blues mothers was important in determining whether the articles analyzed had a main theme, namely how husband's support influences the prevention of postpartum blues. In this research, the author reviewed several national and international articles related to postpartum blues and husband's support. The research results show that husband's support in the form of interpersonal communication greatly influences the occurrence of postpartum blues in breastfeeding mothers. Effective interpersonal communication between husband and wife can reduce the impact of postpartum blues and influence the mental health and treatment seeking behavior of postpartum mothers. Therefore, a husband who provides social support in the form of communication is very important in preventing postpartum blues in breastfeeding mothers. In this research, the author also found that the form of husband's support discussed was communication, as a process of conveying information and mutual understanding between husband and wife. One of the functions of communication is expressing emotions. Based on the previous research that has been described, the author tries to find out how strengthening husband's support through interpersonal communication influences the prevention of postpartum blues. Thus, it can be a recommendation for further improvement and evaluation for married couples, regarding efforts to prevent the occurrence of postpartum blues in breastfeeding mothers.
