THE ROLE OF SOCIAL PRESCRIBING IN ADDRESING SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH IN THE ELDERLY: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW AND BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Abstract
Background: Social prescribing, a healthcare approach that connects individuals with community-based support services, has gained significant attention as a potential strategy to address the complex social determinants of health. This study aimed to explore the role of social prescribing on health determinants in older adults. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in several electronic databases. The following search terms were used: "social prescribing," "community-basedinterventions," "socialdeterminantsofhealth," "olderadults," "elderly," and "seniors."The bibliometric analysis was conducted using specialized software VOSviewer to visualize the research landscape and identify influential authors, institutions and countries. Results: The findings of this review suggest that social prescribing has the potential to improve various health outcomes among older adults, including physical health, mental health, and social well-being. It can address a range of social determinants of health, such as loneliness, social isolation, and poverty. Conclusion:Future research should focus on evaluating the long-term impacts of social prescribing, identifying optimal implementation strategies, and exploring the cost-effectiveness of this approach.
