Paper Title
USAGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA BASED ON HOLISTIC CHARACTER: ANALYSIS OF INTEREST AND USER VARIATION
Abstract
This study aims to analyse the selection of topics in the use of social media within the context of Quranic character, emphasising ethical principles and values guided by the Quran. Data were obtained through the assessment of means and standard deviations for several key topics of interest to social media users, including health, entertainment, education, religion, and gamification. The results indicate that entertainment is the primary choice with the highest mean score (4.05), while gamification is the least preferred topic (mean 2.80) but has the greatest variation in user interest (standard deviation 1.405). In the context of Quranic character, interest in religious topics, which recorded a mean of 3.79, indicates that some users tend to choose topics aligned with high spiritual and moral values. Conversely, popular entertainment topics, which may lead to non-constructive content, pose challenges in balancing beneficial entertainment with the values advocated in Islamic teachings. The analysis also shows that socialising (mean 3.66) and education (mean 3.48) also attract significant interest, highlighting the importance of social interaction and knowledge in the lives of social media users. This study underscores the need to enhance user awareness regarding ethical and moral use of social media, guided by Quranic character, so that this platform can be utilised as a space for positive self-empowerment in line with Quranic teachings.
