MENTAL HEALTH ON THE GO: DESIGNING USER-FRIENDLY MHEALTH APPS FOR AGING POPULATIONS

Abstract
Mental health conditions like anxiety, stress, and depression are becoming more common among the elderly as the world's population ages quickly. With a rapidly ageing global population, mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression are becoming increasingly prevalent among older adults. Given that more than 15% of Malaysia's population is expected to be 60 or older by 2030, this trend concerns the country. Mental health issues in Malaysia among the elderly, such as high incidence of depression and suicide, underscore the pressing need for easily available support services. This study aims to design and develop the 2Heal mobile application, tailored specifically for improving mental health awareness and support among the elderly. This study uses a mixed-methods approach to investigate requirements for the 2Heal app's accessibility and usefulness. It guides the creation of user-centred applications for elderly mental wellness.
