SURVEY OF TRAINING TIME AND INJURY IN ELITE JUNIOR GOLFERS
Abstract
Golf has a relatively low risk of injury compared to other sports. Professional golfers have been reported to have a higher incidence of injury than amateur golfers. Epidemiological studies of elite junior golfers in the developmental stage are few and unknown. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire-based survey of training time and injury in elite junior golfers. The purpose of this study was to reveal the training time, the areas and the characteristics of injury in elite junior golfers, and then analyze the risk factors of injury.Targeted participants were excluded, if they were incomplete data, or over 18 years old. We collected data from 60 junior golfers(male 30, female 30) in the form of a questionnaire survey, which met the criteria. All of the participants had received sufficient golf training. Among the 60 participants, there were 7 cases in the elementary school group (11-12 years old), 33 cases in the junior high school group (13-15 years old), and 20 cases in the high school group (16-17 years old). Pain was the most common symptom. Lumbar was the most common injured area. There were no statistically significant injury-related risk factors.
