A Comparative Study of Anxiety Among Sportsman of Various Caste
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to make a comparative study of anxiety among Sportsman of Various caste. A total of 200 sportspersons from different castes such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and General Category with sportsperson 9, 22, 91 and 78 respectively participated at inter-university level were selected as subjects. The players were selected from four different universities of Gujarat state viz., Gujarat Vidyapeeth Sadra, IITE (Indian Institute of Teachers Education) Gandhinagar, Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University Patan, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Surat. Ages of players was between 17 to 25 years. Sports Competition Anxiety Test (S.C.A.T) Questionnaire was chosen as the Scale of Measurement for the Study of Anxiety. Significance was tested at 0.05 levels by applying one way analysis of variance 'F' ratio to compare the anxiety of selected players belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and General category at inter university level. The conclusion of which was seen as follows. No significant difference ware found in the anxiety questionnaire of sportsperson who participated in inter-university level of different castes such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and General Classes.
