Abstract
Aim : To evaluate the ocular manifestations in cases of pre-eclampsia & eclampsia in North Indian women . Methods: A hospital based cross-sectional study was conducted on 350 pregnant women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy who fulfilled the inclusion criteria of the study. Comprehensive ocular examinations, including dilated fundus examination, were performed. Data on demographic, clinical, and laboratory parameters were collected. Results: Out of total 350 patients, retinal changes were observed in nearly 60% of patients, with grade I changes being most common. These changes were significantly associated with the severity of hypertensive disorders, elevated blood pressureand impaired liver and kidney function. Conclusion: Retinal complications are prevalent in pregnant women with hypertensive disorders and are linked to various risk factors. Routine ophthalmic evaluation is essential for early detection and management of these ocular issues, ultimately improving maternal and fetal outcomes.
