Radial Shockwave Therapy for Treating Patients with Myofascial Knee Pain: Cases Report

Abstract
The most common causes of knee pain are osteoarthritis, patellofemoral pain syndrome, and meniscal injuries. However, when a patient experiences knee pain, other possible diagnoses should be considered. Knee pain caused by myofascial trigger points in the muscles involved in knee movement is a diagnosis that may be overlooked. This report discusses four patients with knee pain who did not respond to conventional treatments. With the detailed physical examination of these patients, several trigger points were found in the muscles around the knee joint, which seemed to be the cause of treatment-resistant knee pain in these patients. These patients were subjected to radial shock wave therapy for treating these trigger points and after a significant reduction of pain and other symptoms, they stabilized their recovery by performing therapeutic exercises. According to the patient's feedback, it has been reported that the prescribed protocol was highly effective in addressing their health concerns. The patient has reported a significant improvement in their symptoms and has experienced relief from the discomfort they were facing earlier. Based on the patient's positive response, it can be concluded that the recommended protocol has proved to be successful in resolving their health issues.
