Paper Title
English Voicing Sound Perception and Language Awareness in Non-Native Speakers of English

Abstract
This research is aimed to study the hierarchical acquisition of English consonant sound perception in terms of voicing in non-native speakers of English, and to examine the relationship between hierarchical acquisition of English voicing consonant sound perception and English phonological awareness of non-native speakers of English. Thai native speakers were used as research participants as representatives of non-native speakers of English. 100 Thai-English bilingual subjects were placed based on their English language phonological awareness. The present research is experimental design called "Auditory Lexical Decision Task". The data obtained from the experiments were mean reaction times and errors of the subjects when they responded to the stimuli. The findings revealed that the perception of English consonants among voicing phonetic features was significantly different. The results suggested that English language phonological awareness made a difference in the perception of English consonants with different voicingin terms of reaction times and errors. However, there were similar hierarchical perception patterns of consonants in both the High and Low Groups. Keywords - Non-native speakers, English, Language awareness, Voicing
