Paper Title
Contribution of Happiness to Academics and Professional Achievements

Abstract
This study delves into the intricate relationship between leadership qualities and the happiness experienced by academics, exploring how this happiness translates into perceptions of professional achievements in both teaching and research domains. Employing a comprehensive approach, we utilized a formative measurement model, drawing upon the Spanish Big-Five Inventory to evaluate leadership attributes, while happiness indicators from the European Values Study and adapted human capital questions from Santos-Rodrigues, Figueroa, & Jardon (2011) were employed to assess happiness and professional achievements, respectively. The construct of leadership was meticulously measured using a unidimensional approach with nine reflective items, while happiness and professional achievements were gauged with equal rigor using four reflective items each. All responses were meticulously recorded on a 7-point Likert scale, ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree). Utilizing an advanced statistical methodology, specifically variance-based structural equation modelling with partial least squares, we analysed data collected from a diverse sample of 195 academics representing Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across an impressive spread of 52 countries worldwide. Our findings illuminate a significant positive correlation between leadership characteristics and the perception of academic happiness, with the added revelation that happiness exerts a direct and positively impactful influence on the perception of research achievements among HEI academics. Intriguingly, our analysis revealed no discernible moderating effect on the country, suggesting that the conclusions drawn from this study are universally applicable across all countries included in our extensive investigation, transcending geographical and continental boundaries. These findings underscore a compelling narrative of shared experiences and common patterns within the realm of HEIs on a global scale.
