Paper Title
OCCUPYING THE CARIBBEAN YARD SPACE FOR CRITICAL CREATIVITY
Abstract
Probing:
Shaped by running water, that of the Caribbean Sea or a multitude of bodies of water within our islands, the region has always been a space for movement and shifting.
It is this shifting and movement — sometimes resulting in erosion, path-making, softening, depletion — that brings to itself and pushes away all that is needed for its peoples to be moulded.
Let us return to the yard — a return to play, a call to dream, a rising to reclamation. It is in the yardthat we find the space to unearth our shared histories. The forgotten histories, the unspoken, those made taboo, and those that hold the key to futures drenched in healing.
