THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMAND AND CONTROL FUNCTION OF CITIES IN THE WORLD

Abstract
In the existing literature, there are many studies of large cities in terms of their global functions, such as: command and control, world city global city. So far, there are no comprehensive studies of cities that would show a more complete picture of their impact on the international arena. Filling this gap, the aim of the study is to show the relationship between the command and control function, global city and world city. Taking into account the share of command and control, global city, and world city, four types of cities have been distinguished. They take into account the dominance of one of the functions or the balance of all three. For this purpose, the Ossan triangle was adapted, which showed the relationship between command and control function of cities, global and world functions in cities. Based on this, a typology was created showing the level of dominance or balance of these functions in a given city. It has been shown that the domination or balancing of functions is not entirely the domain of the largest and most important cities in the global economy, but rather of cities from the middle and bottom of the ranking Type 1. Dominance of the command and control function: Nagoya, Shenzhen, Seattle, Osaka, Beijing, Dallas, Ningbo Type. 2. Dominance of the global city function: Berlin, Porto Alegre, Brussels, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Vienna, New York, Barcelona Type 3. Domination of the world cityfunction: Changsa, Dubai, Manama, Milan, Chengdu, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur Type 4. Cities with the most sustainable functions: Harbin, Stockholm, Houston, Rio de Janeiro, Dublin, Kolkata, Abu Dhabi.
