THE SHARED/OPPOSING PLACE IDENTITY EXPERIENCESFOR SERBIAN STUDENTS ABROAD AND FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN SERBIA

Abstract
Place identity is a polymorphic category and for the migrating international students it can take different forms depending on their origin and the reception country’s settings. The focus in this paper is on the two groups of international students – Serbians who have been studying abroad and the international students in Serbia, regarding their shared or distinctive features of identification with the place. Methodology of a qualitative research, i.e. focus-group and one-to-one interviews was employed alongside quantitativeanalysesderived from the questionnaire survey. The outcomes of the research prove a critical yet the objective perceptionabout the place identity features of the international students’ population.
